The farmers to get 55% land back in Bihar township plan aims to balance development and farmer interests. The Bihar government plans to build several satellite townships across the state. Under this plan, farmers who give land for the project will receive 55% of their land back after development.
The government will develop the land with roads, drainage, electricity and other basic facilities. After development, farmers will get their share as fully developed plots. This model allows farmers to benefit from rising land value.
Officials say the project will follow a land pooling system. The government will use about 22% of the land for roads and infrastructure. Around 5% will go to parks, playgrounds and public facilities like schools and hospitals. About 3% will support housing for economically weaker sections.
The government will also offer another option. Farmers who do not want to join the scheme can sell their land to the government at up to four times the market price.
