Tamil Nadu politics has taken another dramatic turn after actor-turned-politician Vijay faced a major setback in his attempt to form the government. The situation changed quickly when a key ally withdrew support, weakening his numbers in the assembly. With the magic figure required for government formation still far away, his party now faces uncertainty. Tamil Nadu politics has therefore become more intense with rapid political developments.
The party that was expected to back Vijay suddenly announced it would not continue its support. This decision reduced the strength of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, making it difficult to reach the required majority of 118 seats in the assembly.
Meanwhile, the opposition moved quickly. Edappadi K. Palaniswami started exploring options to form a new government. T. T. V. Dhinakaran reportedly met the governor and urged him to invite their alliance to form the government.
At the same time, some legislators from another party met M. K. Stalin, which triggered speculation about a new political strategy. The final decision now depends on Governor R. N. Ravi, who must decide whom to invite to prove a majority or whether further steps are needed.
The unfolding developments have made the state’s political situation highly unpredictable.
