The Union Cabinet approves two new semiconductor projects to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing sector. The decision came during a cabinet meeting chaired by Narendra Modi. The projects will be set up in Gujarat with a combined investment of about ₹3,936 crore.
The Union Cabinet approves two new semiconductor projects as part of the India Semiconductor Mission. These facilities aim to boost domestic chip production and reduce dependence on imported semiconductors. The move will also support India’s plan to become a global electronics manufacturing hub.
One project will be developed by Crystal Matrix in Dholera. The company will build a semiconductor fabrication and assembly facility that produces Mini and Micro-LED display modules using gallium nitride technology. These displays are widely used in smartphones, tablets, televisions, smartwatches, and automotive screens.
Another project will be set up by Suchi Semicon in Surat. The company will establish a semiconductor assembly and testing unit with a capacity to produce more than one billion chips each year for industries such as electronics, automotive, and industrial automation.
Officials said the new plants will create over 2,000 skilled jobs and strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
