President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday addressed the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebration in Ambikapur, honouring the legacy of tribal freedom fighters such as Birsa Munda. She said the contribution of tribal communities forms a “glorious chapter” in India’s history and reaffirmed that their development remains a key priority for the Government of India.

She commended the people of the region for “abandoning the path of Left Wing Extremism” and joining mainstream development, expressing confidence that coordinated efforts by central and state governments will help eradicate extremism soon.
Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai were present at the event.
The President is on a three-day tour of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. She will inaugurate the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav 2025 in Telangana on November 21 and attend the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Andhra Pradesh on November 22.
