The Paddy MSP Hike announced by the Union Cabinet has brought relief to farmers across India. The government approved higher Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops for the 2026–27 marketing season. The Paddy MSP Hike is one of the key highlights of the decision.
Under the new decision, the MSP for common paddy has increased by ₹72 per quintal. The new support price is ₹2,441 per quintal, compared with ₹2,369 in the previous season. Grade-A paddy will now receive ₹2,461 per quintal.
The government said the revised MSP aims to ensure better income for farmers and protect them from price fluctuations in the market. The decision also supports crop diversification by increasing prices for several pulses, oilseeds, and millets.
Officials added that the MSP structure guarantees at least 50% profit over the cost of production for major crops. The move is expected to benefit millions of farmers during the upcoming Kharif sowing season.
